Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society

ABOUT WAGS

"The Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society promotes genealogy to further the
understanding of our families and community through education, and the
acquisition and preservation of historical information."

Wenatchee, Washington is located midway between Seattle and Spokane, along Highway 2, (exactly in the center of the state). The Wenatchee area consists of Chelan and Douglas Counties.  We also have limited records for Grant and Okanogan Counties.  Explore our site by clicking the topic on the left side of our screen.  We have lots of indexes showing what our holdings contain. Volunteers are working continuously and we will be adding more indexes to the databases so, check back often.

The benefits of a membership are numerous and growing:

  • Access to computers and Wi-Fi in the WAGS Library
  • FREE Access to "American Ancestors" (New England Historic Genealogical Society -NEHGS) at the library
  • Members-Only Library Checkout of selected books
  • Complete access to members-only pages on the website
  • Inclusion in searchable Member Surname Index connecting you with others who are researching your surnames
  • Discounted rates on all record requests
  • FREE access to “World Vital Records” online at home as well as at the WAGS Library.
  • FREE access to "Heritage Quest" with your NCW Library card.
  • Volunteer and participate in short and long term projects that help make our library better.  Some projects can even be accomplished in the comfort of your own home.
  • Email contact for special programs, field trips, and monthly meetings of WAGS which features programs sharing knowledge and techniques for discovering your family’s history.
  • Develop contacts and friendships with other members who have similar interests in genealogy.
  • Access to "WAGS Connections", where members help each other by sharing sources, surnames and locations.
Please consider a membership in WAGS.  Many genealogists recommend joining a society where you live, for educational and support benefits, and another in the place where you search, for the exchange of research information.
